Our three generations of machinery moving experience dates back to Joyce Equipment in the 1950s. Expert Machinery Loading & Unloading

industrial packingWhether you have industrial equipment, oversized vehicles or any other type of exceptionally large and bulky freight to handle, you already know you can't treat it like any other kind of shipment. These items can't be loaded or unloaded with a hand truck — you need the right combination of experience and equipment to get the job done right.

How We Load and Unload Your Heavy Machinery — Our Step-by-Step Process

We follow a structured, proven process for every loading and unloading job. Our step-by-step procedure is as follows:

  1. Site assessment and planning
  2. Machinery and rigging inspection
  3. Positioning and lift execution
  4. Securing for transport or precision placement
  5. Final verification

As an example of the care and attention to detail we put into each of these steps, our thorough site assessments evaluate ground conditions, overhead clearances, access routes, and proximity to utilities. These factors are used to determine the placement of the crane, the rigging configuration, and whether hydraulic gantries or alternative lift methods will be needed.

At every stage, Equip Trucking uses clear communication protocols that include designated signal persons, pre-operational briefings, and real-time coordination between riggers, crane operators, and truck drivers. These are essential for preventing accidents during heavy machinery loading and unloading operations.

  • Unloading at Destination: Offloading and positioning a new arrival at your facility calls for expertise and care, which makes us the right choice for the job.
  • Short-Term Storage and Staging: If you need temporary storage of your machinery before installation or transport, we can make the process as easy for you as possible.
  • Custom Solutions: Non-standard machinery is no problem for our expert staff, who will develop the right plan for even the most challenging cargo.

Rigging and Lifting Methods That Keep Your Heavy Machinery Safe During Loading and Unloading

When it comes to professional heavy machinery loading and unloading, the process requires engineered rigging plans that account for machinery weight distribution, center of gravity, lift points, and sling angles. A wide range of equipment also comes into play, including overhead cranes, mobile cranes, hydraulic gantries, forklifts, and specialized slings and spreader bars.

Our facility features 100-ton crane capacity and 200,000 square feet of operational space. This enables the indoor loading and unloading of oversized machinery that outdoor yards cannot safely accommodate. We adhere to FMSCA regulations regarding hauling machinery weighing more than 10,000 pounds, with a minimum of four tiedowns used and all chains featuring legible WLL markings. In addition, we follow OSHA standards that call for all rigging equipment to be thoroughly inspected before use on each shift, removing all defective rigging equipment from service as soon as it is found.

Every Type of Heavy Machinery We Load and Unload

We provide heavy equipment loading and unloading services across multiple sectors. Examples of the types of machinery we can handle for our customers include:

  • Industrial and metalworking machinery: CNC machines, lathes, industrial presses
  • Construction equipment: Bulldozers, excavators, backhoe loaders, wheel loaders
  • Agricultural machines: Tractors, combines, harvesters
  • Mining equipment: Drills, draglines, haul trucks

Loading and unloading requirements can vary significantly by the type of machinery. For example, tracked machines like bulldozers can self-load via ramps under the right conditions, while non-mobile equipment such as CNC mills or hydraulic presses requires crane or gantry lifts with precision rigging. Our expertise with disassembly and reassembly means even non-standard or irregular-shaped loads are handled with engineered lift plans rather than improvised solutions.
